LECTURE: Army Air Service and Royal Flying Corps Airfields

Fort Worth and North Texas began its important role in American aviation during WWI with the establishment of military aviation fields, a depot and other facilities that set the foundation for a new era of technological progress that continues to this day. Learn the details of how the airfields were built, the operations around the area and the long-term impact of aviation on Texas.

The lecture series is part of the From Cowboy to Doughboy, North Texas in WWI: Mobilization for The Great War exhibit located at the Fort Worth Central Library. The exhibit is on display throughout the Central Library from Jul. 9 – Oct. 19, 2017. More information on the exhibit is available here.
