University of North Texas Libraries – Writings form WWI in America – On Display

The University of North Texas Libraries Special Collections hosted a discussion event, Writings from World War I in America, to commemorate the U.S. WWI Centennial, at UNT’s Willis Library on April 6, 2017. The discussion was facilitated by Dr. Geoffrey Wawro, professor and Director of the Military History Center in the UNT Department of History. During this discussion, eight readings were presented that were written around the time of the war, with focuses on the U.S. on the world stage, the mechanization of war, and the place of African Americans in the war. Half of the readings presented were selected from the current exhibit on display in Special Collections titled, The Lost Generation: World War I Poetry Selected from the Donald Thomas War Poetry Collection which will be on display through May 11, 2017.
